Op tweede Paasdag was ik voor de heilige Mis in de Bedevaartskapel van het Heiligdom van O.L. Vrouw ter Nood. We hoorden in de eerste lezing de toespraak van Petrus op het Pinksterfeest. Die bedevaartplaats heeft een bijzondere week voor de boeg: Vrijdagavond komen de relieken van Bernadette er tot Maandagavond 8 april. En komende zondag is er de Nederlandstalige viering van de barmhartigheid (de Engelstalige is in de kathedraal). Trouwens, op die tweede Paasdag was in Heiloo ook de landelijke ontmoeting van de Katholieke Indonesische gemeenschap. Wat gaat er gebeuren?

On sunday the 24th of april we celebrated the Divine Mercy Feast in our cathedral with the English speaking community. It was organised by the Divine Mercy Apostolate Holland and the Filippino-English community of Laren, but there were faithful from all parts of the country. It was nice to celebrate this beautiful occasion again with so many people!

In the cathedral church in Haarlem a Divine Mercy feast was celebrated, which still can be watched on 'Kathedraal TV', organized by the Divine Mercy Apostolate Holland. After half an Hour of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament the Pontifical holy Mass started, during which I delivered the sermon you find here below.

Zondag beloken pasen, Feest van de Goddelijke Barmhartigheid, hebben we in de kathedraal een speciale internationale viering gehouden. De priesters van de Poolse parochie en de Spaanse parochie waren bij de Eucharistieviering, pastoor Ruben Torres heeft de aanbidding geleid die daaraan vooraf ging. We celebrate the Divine Mercy feast on the second sunday of Easter, this year on the 28th of april. In the cathedral church this feast was organized by the Divine Mercy Apostolate Holland together with the Filippino Catholic Community in The Hague. Before the holy Mass started, the image of Divine Mercy, colocated in one of the lateral chapels of the Cathedral church, was blessed. We prayed for the victims of the attacks in Sri lanka. Why God permitted this?

The 2^nd Sunday of Easter was named Sunday of the Divine Mercy by saint pope John Paul II. We celebrated a beautiful Divine mercy-feast in the Cathedral basilica of St. Bavo in Haarlem, organised by the Divine Mercy Apostolate and attended by many English speaking Faithful

This year the Divine Mercy feast was celebrated in English in the cathedral basilica of Saint Bavo in Haarlem, while a dutch Divine mercy celebration with bishop Punt was held in the shrine of Heiloo.

In Rome werd op de avond voor Barm­har­tig­heids­zondag het komende buiten­gewoon Heilig Jaar van de Barm­har­tig­heid offi­cieel aange­kondigd door paus Franciscus. In het bisdom Haarlem-Amsterdam werden in Heiloo en in Nieuw-Vennep speciale vieringen gehouden voor Barm­har­tig­heids­zondag, in Heiloo met mgr. Jozef Punt, in Nieuw-Vennep was ik aanwezig.

Afgelopen maandag ben ik zestig jaar geworden, dat voelt wel een beetje als: op de drempel van de ouderdom, maar het is toch leuk gevierd.

Het Divine Mercy Apostolate Holland heeft op 5 oktober, feestdag van de heilige Maria Faustina Kowalska, een speciaal feest gevierd ter ere van de 75e sterfdag van de heilige. Deze feestelijke gebedsdag vond plaats in de Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk in Amsterdam met deelname van zo'n tweehonderd gelovigen. Zuster Faustina is de “apostel of secretaris van Gods barmharmhartigheid”.

Zaterdag 24 augustus bracht de Franse priester Patrice Chocholski, secretaris generaal van het World Apostolic Congress On Mercy (WACOM), mij een bezoek in het bisschopshuis. Dit World Congress zet zich in om de devotie voor de Goddelijke Barmhartigheid, geïnspireerd door de heilige Faustina, te verbreiden en zoekt daarvoor ook wegen in Nederland.

"God is liefde", dat is toch wel de centrale boodschap van ons katholieke geloof. Uit die liefde komt alles voort: Zijn menswording, Zijn leven, Zijn kruisdood, Onze Verlossing, dat God een plan heeft met ieder van ons. Dat alles is teken van Zijn liefde en barmhartigheid. Vlak voor de tweede wereldoorlog kreeg een jonge, eenvoudige en ongeletterde Poolse zuster de roeping de boodschap van Jezus' Barmhartigheid te verbreiden en met Zijn Barmhartigheid naar alle volkeren van de wereld te gaan.
